Think Local First | DC Locals Mean Business!

Here at the Eat Local First campaign we are known to try and go all out, and there are few local food events larger or more exciting than the Summer Fancy Food Show to be held in July this week! There will be over 180,000 products, including everything from cheese, coffee, and snacks to gourmet ethnic food. There will be almost 2,500 exhibitors representing 80 countries, and there are expected to be close to 24,000 people in attendance. This weeks event will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at 801 Mount Vernon Place NW, Wash. DC 20001.

The hours for this weeks event are:
July 10th & 11th: 10-5 pm
July 12th: 10-4pm

And that’s not all either. Think Local First member restaurant Ripple has decided to create a special meal deal in honor of the Fancy Food Show, and will be offering a three course meal for only $32. The meal choices include one from each course from the following menu:

1st course:
baby mixed greens, turnips, radish, chevre crouton, simply dressed
OR
chilled corn soup, dried olives, cilantro
2nd course:
Maryland bluefish, smoked corn, blueberry capers, brown butter and pickled crab
OR
papa weaver’s Virginia pork loin, prunes, green garlic custard, garlic scapes
3rd course:
chilled summer berry soup, buttermilk custard, mint, coriander
ice cream: vanilla, chocolate, pistachio
