LOCAWARRIOR

Assistant in promotion, advocacy, event planning and education for programming, events and projects around the local food movement.

Hours
20 to 30 hours a week

Qualifications
Previous experience in organizing, event planning and project management

Educational Requirements
Degree or major of junior/senior standing in Political Science, Business, Communications or Marketing.

Personal Requirements
Intern must have the ability to work independently and multi-task. TLF is looking for someone with strong writing skills that is detailed oriented. Added bonus if intern is familiar with DC and has a passion for small, independent business.

Online Organizing/Social Media Intern

Washington, DC
While building expertise in the most cutting edge online organizing strategies and tactics the Online Organizing intern will help Think Local First launch a broader campaign to support a more sustainable and thriving local economy in DC. Online media will be used to promote local, independent business; buying local and sourcing and eating locally produced food.

Responsibilities
Use online tools like Facebook, You Tube, Flickr, and blogs to promote and publicize priority Think Local First campaigns. Recruit and engage online and on-the-ground supporters across the district.

Hours
10 to 15 hours a week
Mostly offsite

Qualifications
Familiarity with local blogs, online social networks such as Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and other “web 2.0” tools. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong online research skills. Intern will occasionally play a roll in membership management, promotion and website updates.

Videographer and Multimedia Organizer

Washington, DC

Responsibilities
Intern will use video and photos to showcase independent businesses and business owners for the Think Local First website and blog.

General job duties include
• Research and write news segments for video web feed
• Develop look and feel of segments to appeal to target audience
• Interview and select Think Local First Members and others to appear in video segments
• Tape and edit video segments
• Manage production schedule for each shoot

Hours
10 to 15 hours a week
Mostly offsite

Qualifications
Familiarity with video editing software. Candidate must have strong written and communications skills. A bility to work under deadline

Event Planning- Social Venture Institute (May 2012)

Washington, DC

Think Local First DC is looking for interns to assist with marketing, communications and event planning. Interns will be responsible for assisting with the 2012 Social Venture Institute Conference planning, event sponsorship, blogging and other social media outreach. Intern will occasionally play a roll in membership management, promotion and website updates with overall campaign.

Degree or major of junior/senior standing in Communications, Event Planning, Marketing
or Business.
